Second Graders working hard on

First In Math!

Letter from the Editor
Miss Kristen Raye

Greetings from The Ingalls Rocket!

The reporters and writers of The Ingalls Rocket were very eager to get the next issue out to our readers. They have been working very hard coming up with unique ideas and covering what's happening here at Ingalls!

I am very proud of the work being done each week by these students. You can feel the excitement through each article. I find myself learning right along with them as I guide these writers through the writing process!

With that being said, sit back, relax, and read away!

- Miss Kristen Raye, Editor-in-chief

Pictured here, Miss Raye and several students hard at work on the next edition!  Can't wait to see it!

Second Grade Effort Celebration

By Jasmine & Angela

Mrs. Cowdell announces the second grade students and tells the parents that the Core Value of the month is Effort.  Second graders walked in the auditorium while the intro music was playing “Roar” by Katie Perry.  Everyone in the auditorium stood up and did the Pledge of Allegiance and My Promise.

  • Six second graders went up to the stage and each of them had a letter that spelled Effort.

  • All second grade classes did a speech on how their class shows Effort.

  • The second graders then read in parts the play “The Ant and the Grasshopper”.

  • Second graders sang a song called “We’re all in this Together”  from High School Musical.

  • The last thing the second graders did was a slide show of pictures how they showed Effort.

  • Before the parents left, the third graders gave each second grader a book to keep and read.

Frogs!

Ingalls and all fourth grade classrooms across the city have new classroom pets!
The students are studying life cycles as part of the science curriculum. Each classroom received a Raise-A-Frog kit containing everything needed to watch as tadpoles grow and develop.

In The News
The Minions
Movie Review
By Jefferson & Edgar

The characters in the movie are Kevin, Stuart, and Bob. In the beginning of the movie, the minions are born in the ocean. They walk out of the ocean in search of a boss. Throughout the movie, they visit Egypt, England, the North Pole, the Jungle, and many other places trying to find the perfect boss. In each place the minions try out bosses like T-Rex, Dracula, a Yetti, a caveman, and others. They don’t have any luck finding one. They finally visit Villain-con and meet Scarlet, an evil female boss. Along with Scarlet, the minions try and save man-kind. Our favorite part- Stuart gets in a hot tub in a woman’s bikini. It makes everyone laugh! We would give the movie 5 stars! It is very funny!
The Descendants

By Omeiry & Angelenny

This is a musical movie on the Disney Channel. The characters in the movie are

Mal, Evie , Carlos, Ben, and Jay from a place called The Isle of the Lost. Mal and all of her friends are in search of a magic wand so they go to Auradon Prep to get it from a Fairy Godmother and use it to free their parents from The Isle of the Lost.

Mal and her friends do everything in their power to get close to the wand!

We would give the movie 5 stars! We love all the songs throughout the movie!

Land of Stories
The Wishing Spell

Book Review

By Annette

Land of Stories is a book series about two kids that are 3rd grade students and their dad disappeared when they were babies.  Their names are Alex and Conner.  They fall into the world of fairy-tales and run into their favorite fairy-tale characters. They realize this much fun had been hiding from them their whole entire life!

When they arrive they find a man-frog and he tells them

to go in the dwarf forests to find the cabin (small house)

in there and someone will tell them how to get home.

They go but Conner is sill scared of the frog. They get lost and spend all day in the dwarf forests and finally find a gingerbread (cookie) house. Conner reminds Alex about the story of the kids that go to a witches house and get stuck but Alex keeps on going and when the witch comes out they run and run and go somewhere else. The rest is WAY more dangerous than the beginning.

Beautiful artwork on display in the front foyer.  Check it out!

One of these pieces is mine.  It was kind of hard but I enjoyed making it.
